Watch Your Toes

Hello my loves! I pray that everyone is enjoying this weather now that spring, more like summer, has decided to bless us with its presence.

Let me throw this disclaimer before I get all types of angry messages about how “I don’t know your life”. I come from a place of love and concern; it’s a judgement free zone because I’m guilty too. Just a fair warning, today’s blog may step on some toes. However, I am witnessing too many individuals burning themselves out by being superheroes without a cape. Let this post serve as your reminder that God is God and you are NOT.

What do I mean by that? Well, a lot of us have a savior spirit and we want to save or fix everything and everyone around us. Listen baby! You canNOT pray to God about it and then go do His job for him. (You do pray about it, right?) I know you mean well and you come from a place of love, but the Lord already has the whole world in His hands. He’s got this boo! Do you trust Him?

How many times have we asked somebody to do something and then hit them with, “Nevermind. I’ll do it myself; you’re taking too long.” That’s essentially what we’re doing to God when we step in the way of the process that he has planned for other’s lives. Let’s be clear, there is a difference between being obedient and being in the way. Sometimes God isn’t giving those directives, it’s you trying to control the situation. Then you wonder why you’re burnt out with nothing left to give. Yes, the Lord will reward you for your good deeds, but let’s be real….you can’t pour from an empty glass.

Now that I’ve stepped on your toes, let me massage your feet. Fellow superheroes, we have to take care of ourselves too. Whether you need a day or an hour to reenergize, take it. Be selfish with you for that moment (Just a moment! Don’t walk around every day being selfish.) Learn the art of NO. Taking care of yourself doesn’t make you a villain. Also, make sure your prayer life is up to par. You have to talk to God about those directives and be obedient to what and who it is that He needs you to help. The same way you practice your gift of discernment on which homeless person to give money to, is the same way you should practice that gift of discernment on which issues to take on. I’m just being real. I know folks aren’t giving money to every homeless person that they see on the street.

God knows our problems and He will place the right resources in our presence at the right time. To know if you're that resource, you have to ask Him for the vision and the clarity. Until then, go ahead and give the world back over to the Lord and let Him do His job. And you need to sit your hine parts down until He calls you off the bench.

If you recognize that you’ve been in the way, go ahead and leave a message or post a comment. Just give me the church finger and say “Guilty”.
